Overview #

The Item Search Bar in register allows users to quickly locate and select items available for sale. This tool enhances transaction speed and accuracy by enabling searches for products by name or keyword. 

 Where to Find It #

The Item Search Bar is located on the right side of the checkout screen, directly above the quick pick window. It is labeled “Item Selection.” 

 How to Use #

1. When you are on the checkout screen, your cursor will automatically focus on the Item Search Bar, allowing you to start typing or scanning items immediately.
   
2. Type the Item Name: 

Begin typing the name of the item you want to find. The system will automatically suggest matching items in the quick pick window. 

• Example: Typing “cola” will return items such as “Coca-Cola 500ml” or “Diet Cola Can”.
  

3. Select the Item:

Tap or click the correct item (touchscreen/mouse).

      4. Item Added to Sale: 

Once you select an item, it will be added to the current transaction. 

 💡Search Tips

• Partial Names Work: You don’t need to type the full name. Typing just a few letters is often sufficient.
  
• Fast Matching: The search automatically filters the item list as you type, showing the best matches.
  
• Multiple Matches: If more than one item matches your input, a list will appear. Select the appropriate one.
  

🧠 Did You Know? #

The item search bar can be a faster alternative in cases where:

• Barcodes are damaged or unreadable.
  
• The item has no barcode (e.g., loose produce, handmade goods).
